Some community services on the Web hide behind their members and send spam invitations to people here and there. This is a spam and they know it. In spite of this they keep sending messages like: "Somebody's Name" wants to be your friend. I have received so many spam invitations like these recently but kept on following them to know their sources.
Those community services offer options to:
Create your own web page.
Extend your social network
Publish your music playlists
Share photos and videos
Post blogs
Join groups called "..."
And much more ...
And they link all messages sent to groups with coloured boxes to: Accept this invitation to join, and some of them offer an option to decline. They'll then give you links to know them and a text link that says: Don't want to receive these e-mails? Block your e-mail address.
Yes of course, they wanted to escape the spam claims. They have no rights to send you emails without your consent and to do this hiding behind their clients.
